Welcome to Torchwood Three, one of the main Torchwood Hub's based around England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. The team is based in the centre of Cardiff in order to monitor the Rift over the city and safeguard life as we know it from any alien threat that slips through. Torchwood three also protects the unlucky Rift 'debre' from the darker elements of humanity.

Time may overlap, alien technology may fall into the wrong hands, and the events leading up to the end of the world may be triggered, but there has to be someone there to stop it. and that's what Torchwood does. If it wasn't for Torchwood then Cardiff and numerous places around the United Kingdom would be in real peril, if not destroyed by now, though how long can Torchwood Three stand in the way of the increasingly monstrous things that come through the rift? Is anyone really safe?

A simple answer would be no, but you have to do your job and hope that you are the hero and not the biggest monster of all at the end of it.

Torchwood is not just a job; Torchwood is your life. There is very little time for anything else outside of it, but it is so dreadfully important that you have something to anchor you to the real world; family, friends, lovers...if you aren't anchored, then who is to say you won't get swept away in the oncoming tide?

Oh, and you never know when your stopwatch will come in handy. There are lots of things you can do with a stopwatch.
