Full Version: New arrival
Jayden Thomas
This was terrifying. No, that was a silly thing to say, how could one be scared of a building? Perhaps a more accurate description would be to say that he was anxious. Whatever it was, it didn't feel nice. Jayden always felt this was when he went to somewhere new, sort of an anticipation of all the horrible things that could and most probably would happen to him while he was there. However, this place wasn't new to him - in fact, he'd already spent a year here, but it was still worrying because that hadn't counted as a proper school year. He had to do this so he pushed the thoughts out of his mind and approached the reception desk, laying his bags down.

"Jayden Thomas," he told the receptionist quietly, then fidgeted nervously while she typed something into her computer. When she nodded and told him his room number, handing him his keycard, he half-smiled and turned to pick his bags up. Why he had decided to bring so many things with him this year, no one knew, but he had and now he'd have to suffer the task of getting them up to his bedroom. Once he had them all about his person, he began to look around for the boy who was supposed to be meeting him.

It didn't take long and he quickly spotted a dark-haired boy sitting nearby on some chairs. He shuffled over, struggling under the weight of his bags while trying to drag a suitcase along behind him, and proceeded to trip and land almost on top of Axel. Straightening himself out, he blushed a bright shade of red and stammered, "I'm so s-sorry, I have n-no idea how that h-happened!"

Axel loved school. Not so much the academic side, which he found to be a little bit boring, but the artistic side and the social aspect. He loved being able to talk to someone any time he wanted and to have so much choice for how to spend his time. He also liked the cute guys that seemed to be around the place, as they made the day seem so much brighter. Blondes in particular were particularly cute, he had decided, so he made a special effort to look out for them as they passed.

Talking of blondes - right now, as he sat in reception, he could see one he knew walking in through the main entrance to the building, which made him smile. That was Jayden, his new roommate and one of the cutest guys he'd even seen. Axel watched with interest as the other boy fumbled around and generally looked adorable, before heading over this way with a multitude of bags.

Upon finding the blonde practically in his lap, Axel looked up and laughed. "Aww, don't worry about it, it's fine!" he replied, getting to his feet and finding the two of them to be about the same height. "I'd shake your hand but I think you might drop something! I'm Axel, by the way, not that you'd have forgotten but I thought I'd tell you anyway." Reaching out, he took one rucksack and the suitcase from Jayden and began to head towards the lift. "Come on, let's put this stuff away so we can get started on getting to know each other properly. What food do you like? We should go out for lunch. If you want to, that is."

After getting a response he wasn't expecting, which was that the boy didn't seem to mind at all, he felt somewhat confused. At the same time though, he felt relieved because it meant he hadn't caused any trouble. Watching Axel stand up provided more relief because the other boy wasn't any taller or bigger than him, which took away some of the fear of being hurt by him. He edged away slightly when Axel reached for the bags, but when he realised that was all that he was doing, he stopped moving.

'This guy talks a lot...' he thought. That's good news, it means I won't have to think of as many things to say. My brain gets so jumbled when I have to talk...' Following behind Axel as quickly as he could towards the lift, he tried to co-ordinate walking and listening but it was proving difficult with so many bags, so he tripped a couple of times along the way. As they stepped into the lift, he realised he had been asked a question. 'Oh no, what do I say? If I say I don't want to he might be annoyed. What if I say I want to and he changes his mind?'

Jayden had a habit of worrying too much about the consequences of anything he might say and tried to think through all possible eventualities before speaking. Unfortunately, this always caused a delay in replying which made people think he was a little bit strange. "Y-yes, I'd like th-that. If y-you're sure you don't m-mind..." he finally answered.

Axel smiled sympathetically at Jayden as he watched the blonde struggling towards the lift, wondering why he'd brought so much stuff if he couldn't carry it. Once they were both in the lift, he pressed the button for the correct floor and the doors closed. "I'm sure! I'm starving already, actually... but then again, I'm always hungry. I've always got food stashed somewhere in case I get hungry between snacks!" he replied, laughing so that Jayden knew not to take it too seriously.

'Ping!'

When the lift had arrived at the floor their room was on, Axel stepped out first and began to lead the way along the corridor, checking behind him periodically to make sure that he hadn't lost Jayden yet. He swiped the keycard in the lock and pushed down the handle, then entered the room shoulder first, where he quickly dumped the bags he had onto the nearest bed. "Just throw your stuff down anywhere you like, you can unpack later. Do you want to go out for food now or do you need to get changed or anything...?" he enquired, making sure he had all the bases covered.

"Sorry, I ask too many questions. Let me know if I get too personal or whatever, just elbow me and tell me to shut up!" Axel said, laughing once again.

Jayden smiled nervously as Axel continued talking, too scared to laugh in case he made an idiot of himself. However, the other boy's smile was actually quite calming and he felt himself slowly begin to relax a little. By the time they reached the bedroom he was sure his back would break from the weight of the bag he was carrying, so he had to throw it down onto the bed as soon as he could. He let his suitcase fall to the floor and dropped the third bag, before sitting himself down gently on the edge of the bed.

Yawning, he ran a hand through his hair and prepared to answer the latest question, but before he could get the words together he was being spoken to again. This time, the other boy's laughter provoked a genuine smile from him - there was something infectious about a person in such a good mood as this. He knew he still had to reply though, which was worrying him as he tried to force himself to speak. "It's okay, I don't mind," he said, in reference to the last comment

"I just need to change my top, th-then we can go," he continued, turning and rummaging in his rucksack for the pink-and-white striped top he knew was near the top. When he found it, he stood up and pulled off his own top quickly, not wanted to be exposed for any length of time in case it gave Axel a chance to laugh at him. Once he was changed, he made an attempt to smile again. "Okay, I think I'm ready now..."

Axel hadn't previously believed in love at first site, but now he was starting to doubt himself somewhat. The cutest, most adorable guy he'd ever met was only a few feet away and better still - he had no top on. Axel took the opportunity to check him out, smiling to himself when he spotted the navel piercing. It seemed so out of character but it was so unbelievably cute that he sort of forgot to care, instead letting his gaze linger on it for a few seconds. One thought led to another, and it was only when he heard his inner voice saying, 'I wonder if he's a moaner...? that he realised he'd stopped concentrating.

He managed to regain some sort of normality just in time to see Jayden turning back to him. The pink was almost too much, it just made him seem... perfect. He grinned and stepped forwards saying, "Shall we go, then?" With his left hand, Axel took the blonde's right hand, and used his other hand to open the door. He hadn't bothered to check for Jayden's reaction because he remembered their IM conversation well, the blonde liked being close to people and needed reassurance that he was safe.

The door clicked shut behind them and he swiped his card to lock it, before heading off towards the lifts again. Pressing the button to call the lift, he released Jayden's hand for a moment to wrap his arm around the boy's shoulders. A glance towards him served as a quick check that he wasn't getting into dangerous territory. "You okay?"
